HMML Website and Vivarium |
|||
|
I created my first website for a
non-profit arts organization in 1996 and didn't do much with
websites for the next eight years. As anyone can see, the
Web has changed considerably in that time. Websites have grown from static displays of text and a few images to complex, database-driven resources. At the time of my hiring, the HMML website had just been given a complete makeover; a webmaster was needed to oversee it. Thus, I took my eight-year-old web skills and started playing "catch-up." In addition to HMML's main website, a web-based digital library system called Vivarium was launched in the Autumn of 2004. This site serves as a web-based database of digital images, PDF files, and searchable document scans. Items are added to Vivarium on a regular basis--as of December 2009, Vivarium contains over 240,000 items.
