Websites have grown from static displays of text and a few images to complex, database-driven resources. At the time of my hiring, the HMML website had just been given a complete makeover; a webmaster was needed to oversee it. Thus, I took my eight-year-old web skills and started playing "catch-up."

In addition to HMML's main website, a web-based digital library system called Vivarium was launched in the Autumn of 2004. This site serves as a web-based database of digital images, PDF files, and searchable document scans. Items are added to Vivarium on a regular basis--as of December 2009, Vivarium contains over 240,000 items.
