Opportunities for Scholars		Heckman Stipends
The Hill Museum & Manuscript Library, with help from generous friends, offers a number of opportunities for scholars to visit HMML for first-hand study opportunities. Current opportunities include: Scholars seeking to consult materials found in the collections may apply for a Heckman Stipend. College of Saint Benedict students interested in exploring careers in development or education and outreach can take advantage of the Irma Wyman internships. The College of William & Mary and Saint John’s University (SJU) offer summer apprenticeships in archival studies. Faculty development incentives are offered to the CSB/SJU faculty community, inviting them to explore the recourses of its collections. The Minnesota Manuscript Research Laboratory		The Hill Museum & Manuscript Library (HMML) invites applications for research stipends, made possible by the A.A. Heckman Fund. Up to 10 stipends in amounts up to $2,000 are awarded yearly. The stipends may be used to defray the cost of travel, room and board, microfilm reproduction, photo-duplication and other expenses associated with research at HMML. Length of residency may range from two weeks to six months. Undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral scholars (those who are within three years of completing a terminal master’s or doctoral degree) are eligible. The program is specifically intended to help scholars who have not yet established themselves professionally and whose research cannot progress satisfactorily without consulting materials to be found in the collections of the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library.
