Opportunities for Scholars   Faculty Development Incentives
The Hill Museum & Manuscript Library, with help from generous friends, offers a number of opportunities for scholars to visit HMML for first-hand study opportunities. Current opportunities include:

 

The Hill Museum & Manuscript Library (HMML) invites CSB/SJU faculty members to explore the resources of its collections. Faculty members are encouraged to submit ideas for individual and group curriculum and program development projects designed to weave the HMML collections into existing or new course work. The HMML Faculty Development Incentives offer the following:
  • $75.00 per diem
  • Orientation to HMML and its collections by staff
  • Training and access for Vivarium, HMML's on-line digital collections
  • Research support from staff curators and scholars
  • Access to on-line resources and collections
  • The ability to tailor collection resources to fit specific needs
  • Incentives may be used during the school year or summer

Maximum of $1000.00 incentive per faculty member

HMML Faculty Development Incentives supports projects for the improvement of teaching. Activities eligible for funding include, but are not limited to:

  • Individual and Department curriculum planning
  • Developing new courses and introducing new teaching techniques requiring time and resources beyond ordinary responsibilities.

A $1000 maximum funding limit exists for these projects and they must be self sustaining upon the termination of the grant.

ELIGIBILITY

  • HMML Faculty Development Incentives are awarded only to continuing full time members of the CSB-SJU faculties. Group project grants may include other faculty, but the project director must be a continuing full time member of the faculty.
  • Proposals to support doctoral dissertation work will not be funded.
  • Persons holding full-time administrative appointments are not eligible for funding.

WHEN AND HOW TO APPLY FOR AN INCENTIVE

HMML Faculty Development Incentives are available throughout the year. A short project description must be submitted in writing to Tim Ternes, Director of Public Programs and Education for the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library. (tternes@csbsju.edu) Projects will be reviewed and recommended for funding by the Executive Director of HMML in consultation with the curators. All applicants will be notified in writing of the status of their proposal.
