Syriac Orthodox Archdiocese of Homs
Homs, Syria ![]() Syriac Orthodox Cathedral of Homs. ©HMML 2008. Homs is Syria’s third largest city, after Damascus and Aleppo, and a center for Christians in the region. The Syriac Orthodox archbishopric is located at the Church of Mary’s Belt, an ancient site with several superimposed structures dating back to the early Christian centuries. Between the collection held at the Church and the manuscripts in villages of the Archdiocese, the project will eventually digitize approximately 500 manuscripts. Work began in Homs in March 2008.
