N U N T I AThe Newsletter of the Medieval Association of the Midwest
Fall 2002, Volume XXVI Number Two
From the Executive Secretary The letter from the Executive Secretary for this issue is quite brief. In order to get out the schedule for our forthcoming conference, I will limit my comments to remarks about that meeting. It looks as if Ed Risden has put together an exciting program. I strongly encourage you to attend. Prompt action is critical, especially since the conference is being held on the same weekend as a Green Bay Packers game. Please work with Ed and others on his campus to make sure your hotel arrangements have been completed, and please book airline reservations as soon as possible. I hope that you are able to attend. Robert L. Kindrick, Executive Secretary
Annual Business Meeting Minutes
May 2, 2002 Valley I, Britton Lounge 7:00 - 8:15 p.m. Western Michigan University Kalamazoo, Michigan
Present: Kristie Bixby, Stephen Boyce, Rosanne Gasse, Jean Godsall-Myers, Peter Goodrich, Matthew Hentzelman, Norman Hinton, Patricia Hollahan, Bruce Hozeski, Harriet Hudson, Robert Kindrick, Christopher Kleinhenz, Francine McGregor, Karen Moranski, Toni Morris, Edward Risden, Christian Sheridan, Cynthia Valk, Norbert Wethington, Charlotte Wulf, Stephen Yandell
Mr. Hozeski convened the meeting at 7:10 p.m. in Valley I, Britton Lounge.
Approval of Minutes - Mr. Hoazeski presented the Business Meeting Minutes of May 3, 2001, for approval. It was moved and seconded (Morris/Wethington) to approve the minutes. Approved unanimously.
Report of the President - Mr. Hozeski commented that things are going well with MAM.
Report of the Executive Secretary - Mr. Kindrick mentioned that the call for renewal of membership went out late this year. He shared and reviewed the financial statement for May 1, 2001, to May 1, 2002, and thanked the University of Wisconsin for its contribution to the MAM treasury from last year’s meeting. St, Norbert College was advanced funds to plan for next year’s conference; that money will probably be repaid. The ending operating balance is $2,451.91. Invested funds show an interest level of seven percent which is not the same as recorded in the past but significant compared to some levels of interest for the past year. It was moved and seconded (Kleinhenz/Moranski) to accept the Executive Secretary’s report. Approved unanimously.
Report of the Editor of Nuntia - Mr. Goodrich reported that the latest issue of Nuntia was mailed early last week, sent to all paid-up members, including 50 new members. Mr. Thundy retired last year, and the co-editors have left the newsletter entirely in the hands of Mr. Goodrich. The website for the association was inadvertently deleted from the Northern Michigan University server but will be up and running soon. The URL will likely be changed to nmu.edu/english/mam/. _____________________________________________
