Rent roll (Titled a capbreu on archivist's note on top of back), Monastery of Santa Maria de Ripoll, Catalonia.
4 sections, joined by parchment strips. The first section of the roll has a rent that has been sewn together; the upper right hand corner is missing and it matches a hole on the right side of the parchment halfway down. The fourth section has been patched.

A capbreu, or rent roll, itemizes the property and the rent of each tenant. On this capbreusixteen tenants of the parishes of Santa Marie de Manlleuo and Sancti Stephani de Villasetrude recognize before the monastery's notary that they hold monastic lands, and they agree to pay their rents to Fr. Nicholaus de Pomerio, the prior of the monastery of Ripoll. This particular roll was in use for two years.

The village of Manlleuo and the parish of Santa Maria are located near Barcelona, in the diocese of Vic. They were part of the holdings of the Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria de Ripoll, which was founded circa 880\888. The monastery of Ripoll did not flourish. Eventually most of its documents were sent to archives in Paris and Barcelona. The documents that remained were destroyed with the monastery in 1835.

First notary signature reads: "Signum meum Bernardi de prato vicarii perpetui sancta marie de Manleuo et notarii pulici pro domino priore loci eiudem. Omi hec scripsi cum superpositis in xiii linea ubi legiturin alodio et in xxiii linea dicitur uos. Et clasui aucte??pali."
